Pregnant

If you think you might be pregnant, chances are you may be feeling a number of different emotions. Your initial reaction may have been shock; perhaps you feel scared because you don't feel like you are in a good position to be a parent right now and the thought of this is overwhelming.

If you can relate to any of this, fear not - we want you to know that we are here for you. You are not alone and there are people ready and waiting to walk alongside you on this journey to bringing life into the world

The First Step

The first step to take if you think you may be pregnant is to take a pregnancy test.

You can get a free pregnancy test from Life charity sent to you through the post. They also offer support and advice and their service is free and confidential.  Alternatively, you can purchase a pregnancy test from any supermarket, pharmacy or health and beauty store local to you.

The Second Step

Make an appointment with your doctor

If your pregnancy test is positive you can make an appointment with your GP to confirm your pregnancy.

If your test is negative but you still don't have a period for a month or two, we would advise you to see your GP to find out why.

Next Steps - If you are pregnant and not sure what to do

Speak to someone who offers pregnancy advice and support, they will advise you on all your options

So you have got your test results back and you've found out you are pregnant but it is unplanned and you don't know what to do: we advise you to explore your options before making a decision. You can do this by speaking to someone at a pregnancy centre who can provide help and support and a listening ear in a non-judgmental environment.
